Welcome to Dave's Whisky Reviews!

Springbank malting Floor
Hello everyone!

My name is David Cover and I’ll be reviewing whiskies here, on Reddit and (when I get organised) over at my YouTube channel.

The first question that comes to mind is perhaps ‘Why bother?’ There’s a tonne of whisky blogs and vlogs already out there. Well, the great whisky reviewer Ralfy Mitchell once said “When people review whisky independently you get more points of reference and can build a more accurate picture of whether you would like it yourself.” Or something similar…

Another reason is that I have been writing about and reviewing whisky for over a year already on Reddit’s r/scotch, which is a thoroughly recommended community of reviewers. Over that time, I’ve
managed to review over 200 whiskies on r/scotch and will continue to post my reviews on there too.

I feel I can bring something new as well. As someone who works in the whisky industry, I can often given you an insiders view and am often able to taste new releases when they come out.

I started tasting whisky in Summer of 2013 and I have tasted over 600 different whiskies so far. My passion for whisky drew me to start working in the industry and I currently work as Brand Ambassador for Penderyn Distillery in Wales
. I have a General Certificate in Distilling and have worked in the distillery itself, mashing, fermenting and distilling whisky, as well as giving tours and masterclasses to thousands of people. This has given me a great knowledge base to now spread the good word about the whiskies I will be reviewing.

However, I will stress that the views expressed here are my own and do not reflect the views of the Penderyn brand or The Welsh Whisky Company. Everyone is biased in their opinions and reviews (in my opinion!) but I will not be reviewing Penderyn to try and keep work and my blogging separate.

I'll be trying to catch up with my Reddit reviews over the next few weeks, so there might be some rapid uploads coming through. Feeling free to scan the Archive bar, or the labels if you're looking for something specific.

You can read my review format/scoring page here.

Thanks for reading!
