Laphroaig PX Cask Review

Hi everyone,

I’ve got a series of quick reviews now. All whiskies that I’ve tasted briefly and not had time to make big long notes.
First up, a classic Laphroaig that I hadn’t tried.

Laphroaig PX 48%
Colour: E150a
Body: Full
Nose: Nicely sweet, Sherry soaked seaweed, iodine, not too medicinal though.
Taste: Soft arrival, chewy raisin, quite sweet, then oily, smoky and more brutish, toffee, salted popcorn, some nice peppery spice.
Finish: Long length. Lovely peaty and medicinal with peppery smoke.
So, this has been finished in Quarter casks, then PX Sherry. A nice one, but not quite as good as the Quarter cask in my opinion. Price is pretty reasonable at some duty frees, seeing as it comes in a litre bottle.
75/100

Thanks for reading!
