Teacher's Highland Cream 1980's Review

Hi everyone,

Today I've got something interesting. A very random bottle of Teacher's I found in a small pub by where I work. What intrigued me was a higher strength of 43%, which I thought was unusual for a basic blend and the bottle size of 1.14 Litres...
The main malt in Teacher's is Ardmore too, which I'm becoming a big fan of.
How's it taste though?

Teachers Highland Cream 1980's 43%
Colour: Gold
Body: Light/Medium
Nose: Nice. Slightly smouldering smoke and definitely Highland style. Creamy vanilla Grain behind. A little spicy malt at times.
Taste: Soft, Highland heather, creamy vanilla, older grain, malt and some young spicy Highland malt whisky that's reminiscent of Timorous Beastie.
Finish: Medium length. Spicy young malt comes through again, a little of that creamy vanilla.
Seems like this is a combo of young Highland malts and older grain whisky to me. Much, much better than the current Teacher's, which is basic mixing stuff these days.
69/100

Thanks for reading!
